The first day

On the first day after getting your tattoo, it is essential to follow these steps:

  1. Leave the bandage/ Second skin on for the time recommended by the tattoo artist (usually a few hours or a few days with second skin).

  2. After removing the bandage, gently wash your tattoo with mild, fragrance-free soap and lukewarm water. Pat dry with a clean towel.

  3. Apply a thin layer of recommended tattoo aftercare ointment or lotion to keep the tattoo moisturized and promote healing. Avoid using excessive amounts.

Healing process

The healing process of a tattoo typically takes several weeks. Here are some general tips to support the healing of your tattoo:

  1. Wash your tattoo gently twice a day with mild, fragrance-free soap and lukewarm water.

  2. Avoid scratching, picking, or peeling the tattooed area. Let any scabs or flakes fall off naturally.

  3. Keep your tattoo moisturized by applying a thin layer of tattoo aftercare product recommended by your tattoo artist.

  4. Protect your tattoo from direct sunlight and avoid prolonged exposure to water (e.g., swimming, soaking in bathtubs) until it is fully healed.

Special attention

Certain areas or types of tattoos may require special attention during the healing process. Consider the following:

  1. Tattoos on joints or areas prone to friction may require extra care and protection. Avoid tight clothing and excessive movement that can irritate the tattoo.

  2. Large or intricate tattoos may need longer healing times. Be patient and follow the aftercare instructions provided by your tattoo artist.

  3. If you experience any abnormal symptoms, such as excessive swelling, redness, or signs of infection, contact your tattoo artist or seek medical advice promptly.

Remember, every tattoo and individual healing process may vary. It is essential to consult your tattoo artist for specific aftercare instructions tailored to your tattoo. Following proper aftercare guidelines will help ensure a vibrant and well-healed tattoo.
